Badminking Badminton Club
Badminking is the newest addition to the New York badminton scene. They have 7 BWF-certified courts. This means that the courts have real wooden floor, covered in badminton mats. The mats help absorb the pressure in the legs to prevent injuring. No matter how high your clear is, it will never touch the ceiling. The club uses non-glaring light, helping you see shots clearly on both sides. Additionally, there are ample parking spots outside.
The court resides in the quieter part of Crown Heights, surrounded by mostly warehouses and parking lots. It is accessible by the C train outside of Liberty Avenue station.
Eddy, the owner, is very enthusiastic about brining high quality badminton court to New York City. You can reserve the court either on CourtReserve or message the owner directly. The court features a small shop with birdies, drink and food. Eventually, the club plans to have a small section with Yonex rackets.
Court reservation is $80 per hour for 4 people. This is pretty reasonable in New York when compared to other clubs in the city. The club also hosts lots of open play throughout the week, which cost around $15. The club accepts both cash and card payment. Zelle and venmo are not accepted.
Overall, this is the club that makes me most excited about New York badminton scene. Hopefully, this would force other clubs to make improvements to compete with one another. There are improvements that can be made at both Bkbc and Kotofit in LIC. I believe these improvements won’t be made until they are forced to. Badminking might just be the right one to nudge other clubs in the right direction.
